Kogi Central Constituents Vow to Resubmit Recall Petition

Constituents from the Kogi Central Senatorial District have expressed their gratitude to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for validating 208,132 signatures—43.86 percent—of their petition to recall suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Despite having mobilized more than the required majority of registered voters, the constituents believe this validation shows that many in Kogi Central have turned against the embattled senator. This development further energizes Kogi Central constituents to proceed with Senator Natasha’s recall.

The constituents pointed out that INEC had canceled about 35,000 signatures during the administrative process, affecting their total count. In a statement released on Thursday by Salihu Habib, representing the petitioners, they reaffirmed their determination to move forward with the recall. “We will work with INEC within the limits of the Constitution to ensure transparency,” Habib said, emphasizing their confidence in the electoral body to handle their petition fairly. kogi central constituents vow to proceed with Senator Natasha’s recall.

The group expressed appreciation to INEC for validating their claims, asserting that their cause is backed by the majority in Kogi Central. “Thank you, INEC, for showing that the people of Kogi Central stand united and that we are not just a fabricated crowd,” they stated.

The petitioners insisted that the recall of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, whom they accuse of “misconduct and divisiveness,” is essential. They declared, “Our goal is to restore dignified representation to Kogi Central. We cannot support someone willing to say anything for political relevance.”

They criticized the senator’s recent rally, where they argued she made incendiary comments that could create division. “How can a responsible senator accuse other regions of sabotaging Kogi State because of the LNG plants here?” they questioned.
