The Rivers State Government has stated that it has not yet received the resolutions from the State House of Assembly concerning the Supreme Court’s judgment issued on February 28, 2025.
On Monday, the House of Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, gave Governor Siminalayi Fubara a 48-hour deadline to present the state’s 2025 budget.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the government clarified that as of March 4, 2025, neither the governor’s office, the deputy governor’s office, nor the Accountant-General had received the necessary document.
The letter did not name the Speaker of the Assembly.

Danagogo referenced a broadcast by Governor Fubara on March 2, where he expressed his commitment to following the law. He assured Rivers State residents that, despite any personal views about the Supreme Court ruling, his administration would respect and implement the court’s decisions for the benefit of the state.
The government also mentioned that its legal team is still waiting for an official copy of the judgment and promised the public that the governor would act as soon as it is received.
The letter stated, “As of the close of work on March 4, 2025, we have yet to receive the said letter. Neither the office of the Governor, the Deputy Governor, nor the Accountant-General has received it.”
This situation arises amid rising political tensions in Rivers State, with many observers closely watching how the Supreme Court’s decision will influence governance in the area.
