Team Ondo has booked a spot in the final of the women’s football event at the ongoing Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF) after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Cross River State on Sunday.
The semifinal clash, held at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, saw the Ondo side edge past their opponents in a thrilling contest to secure their place in the championship match.
Earlier in the tournament, Team Ondo advanced past Edo State via a walkover and went on to deliver an impressive 3-1 win over Bayelsa, underlining their intent to claim the gold medal.
With this result, the Ondo women’s team is now guaranteed at least a silver medal as they prepare to face Team Delta in the final.
The women’s football final is expected to be one of the highlights of the festival, as both teams eye the coveted gold medal.
