The Presidency has challenged opposition leaders criticizing President Bola Tinubu to wait until 2027 for a chance to test their popularity against him. Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, stated that figures like Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP should refrain from premature actions.
Dare emphasized that while the President was addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges in Dar es Salaam, some opposition members were unnecessarily stirring tensions. He remarked, “This is 2025, not 2027. Let those wanting to test their popularity wait for the next election.”
Recently, Atiku, El-Rufai, and Amaechi have publicly criticized Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). At a recent event in Abuja, Atiku alleged that the APC bribed opposition leaders with N50 million each to undermine them.
Meanwhile, El-Rufai expressed his disillusionment with the APC, citing a lack of internal democracy and inactivity within the party’s organs for the past two years, stating, “I no longer recognize the APC; it’s a zero-man show.”
Similarly, Amaechi called for “brutal force” to take power from Tinubu in 2027, asserting that the president would not surrender willingly.
