Security operatives have arrested 20 people in connection with a major JAMB UTME results hacking scandal. The suspects were apprehended in Abuja by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Police Force during a coordinated sting operation.
According to authorities, the 20 individuals are members of a much larger syndicate—believed to include over 100 people—who allegedly specialize in hacking the computer servers of national examination bodies such as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the National Examinations Council (NECO).
The operation is part of an intensified effort to crack down on cybercrime, particularly the manipulation of examination outcomes. Officials say the arrested suspects were involved in JAMB UTME results hacking, where computer-based test scores are illegally altered for financial gain.

“This is a significant breakthrough in our ongoing efforts to secure Nigeria’s education system and restore integrity to public examinations,” a security source told reporters.
Authorities revealed that investigations into the broader network of the JAMB UTME results hacking syndicate are still ongoing. More arrests are expected as the DSS and police expand their probe.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has yet to issue an official statement, but sources say the board is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
