Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has rejected media reports claiming that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan accused him of sexual harassment.
The confusion started when Senator Cyril Fasuyi, who represents Ekiti North, reportedly said during a plenary session that Akpoti-Uduaghan had made an accusation against Fayemi. However, Fayemi’s media office clarified that Fasuyi did not make such a statement.
In a statement from Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, head of Fayemi’s media office, the former governor denied any accusations from Akpoti-Uduaghan regarding sexual harassment. The statement said, “We want to make it clear that this report is incorrect and misrepresents what Senator Fasuyi said.”

The statement continued, “After reviewing the discussion, it is clear that Senator Fasuyi never linked Dr. Fayemi to any sexual harassment claims. Instead, he mentioned that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had previously made false claims against Dr. Fayemi while he was Minister of Mines and Steel Development, particularly regarding the Ajaokuta Steel Company.”
Sajoh further emphasized, “To be clear, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan – or anyone else – has never accused Dr. Fayemi of any sexual misconduct.”
