The African Action Congress (AAC) has strongly criticised President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Anambra State, calling it a “celebration of waste” amid worsening insecurity, hunger, and economic hardship across Nigeria.
The party’s reaction came after President Tinubu commissioned the newly built Governor’s Lodge and “Solution Fun City,” projects spearheaded by Governor Charles Soludo’s administration. In a statement signed by Chioma Ifemeludike, AAC’s 2025 governorship candidate in Anambra, the party described the visit as tone-deaf and unnecessary, considering the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
“This is not the time for showy ceremonies,” Ifemeludike said. “While people are battling hunger and insecurity, our leaders are busy celebrating frivolous projects that do not address the urgent needs of Ndi Anambra.”
The AAC accused both the Anambra State government and the federal government of ignoring the suffering of the masses, warning that the ongoing political alliance between Soludo’s APGA and Tinubu’s APC could undermine democracy in the region. The party said the president’s visit appeared to be politically motivated, likely aimed at influencing the 2025 Anambra governorship election.

Rising insecurity and hunger in Nigeria
AAC said the Tinubu administration, rather than focusing on pressing national issues like rising insecurity and hunger in Nigeria, is promoting what it called “political gimmicks and elite self-interest.” The party warned that the people of Anambra must resist attempts to distract them with flashy projects that offer no real solutions.
“The president should not be honouring invitations for the commissioning of amusement parks when Nigerians are dying from hunger and avoidable violence,” the statement read. “This is not leadership; it’s political entertainment at the expense of the people.”
Ifemeludike also accused both governments of corruption, nepotism, and marginalising the South-East region. She said the continued exclusion of Ndi-Igbo from meaningful representation at the federal level shows a deliberate bias under the Tinubu-led administration.
Political distractions amid Nigeria’s hardship
Highlighting the party’s concerns, the AAC warned that projects like Solution Fun City are “political distractions” that do nothing to improve the quality of life for citizens. It urged voters to see through the facade and reject what it described as an alliance of convenience between Soludo and Tinubu.
“The people of Anambra deserve better,” said Ifemeludike. “We are calling on INEC to guarantee a free and fair election in November 2025. Let the will of Ndi Anambra prevail.”
She concluded by encouraging citizens to hold their leaders accountable and support candidates who prioritise human development, not political photo-ops.
