Atiku to Tinubu: Caution Your Son, Seyi

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Tinubu to immediately call his son, Seyi Tinubu, to order over serious allegations made against him by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Isah.

In a statement released by his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku described the allegations of physical assault, abduction, and bribery involving Seyi Tinubu as disturbing and a dangerous threat to Nigeria’s democracy. He said the claims made by the NANS President should not be taken lightly and called for an independent investigation.

“The allegations made by Comrade Atiku Isah — that Seyi Tinubu physically assaulted and attempted to bribe him — are deeply troubling. These accusations go to the heart of democratic values and civil liberties,” Atiku said.

According to the statement, Atiku warned that the actions of the President’s son appear to be aimed at forcing political loyalty through fear, intimidation, and coercion. “If this incident had ended in tragedy, it would have been yet another addition to the list of violent abuses already plaguing our society,” he noted.

He added that it was even more alarming that some top security officials may have allowed themselves to be influenced by Seyi Tinubu’s actions. “It is unacceptable that someone in the President’s family is allegedly using state institutions to silence dissent,” Atiku said, referencing the growing public concern over the Seyi Tinubu assault allegations.

The former Vice President strongly condemned any attempt by the first family to use force or bribery to control student bodies or civil groups like NANS. “Nigeria is a democratic republic, not a monarchy to be inherited by one family,” he stressed.

Atiku also dismissed as false and politically motivated the attempts to link him to the situation by suggesting that he had formed an alliance with the NANS President. He clarified that his recent meeting with Comrade Isah was strictly about education reforms and student welfare. “Our discussion focused on improving education, including institutions like the American University of Nigeria and AUN Academy,” he explained.

He urged Nigerians to speak out against intimidation and manipulation of civic institutions. “The presidency is not a family business. It is a public trust. The actions of the President’s son, if proven true, must be condemned by all Nigerians who believe in democracy,” he said.

The statement warned that Comrade Isah’s safety must not be compromised, saying any harm to him would raise serious consequences. “We issue a clear warning: nothing must happen to this young man. Nigerians deserve leadership that respects the rule of law, not a regime that uses its power to bully critics,” Atiku declared.

Reaffirming his commitment to democratic principles, the rule of law, and education as a tool for national development, Atiku said he would not be distracted by misinformation or intimidation.

As the Seyi Tinubu assault allegations continue to trend on social media, public demand is growing for an independent investigation into the incident, as well as greater accountability from members of the first family.
