APC Will Implode Over PDP Defections, 2027 Won’t Be Easy for Tinubu — Wabara

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will soon implode following the recent wave of defections from the opposition party.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Wabara accused President Bola Tinubu of trying to turn Nigeria into a one-party state. He stressed that the APC would not survive the political storm ahead of the 2027 general elections, despite any tricks it might employ.

“I have earlier warned against Tinubu turning Nigeria into a one-party state, and it’s now happening,” Wabara said. “But no amount of strategy will save the APC from total defeat in 2027.”

The PDP chieftain urged members of the opposition not to lose hope, especially in light of the recent high-profile defections from Delta State. Among those who have left are former vice presidential candidate Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and several other PDP leaders.

Despite the defections, Wabara insisted there is no cause for alarm. According to him, the APC will implode because the new entrants from PDP would displace long-time loyal members of the ruling party, causing internal chaos.

“The PDP will laugh last,” he said. “The APC will implode when those who worked hard to build the party are sidelined by the new defectors. Eventually, those displaced will return to us.”

Wabara explained that political defections are nothing new and are often driven by fear of losing political relevance, especially with concerns over the credibility of future elections.

He added, “Many are defecting because they want second terms or fear that elections won’t be free and fair. But Nigerians have learned lessons and will resist any form of electoral robbery in 2027.”

The PDP BoT Chairman was confident that even with the recent setbacks, the 2027 elections would be tough for the APC. He said the hardships faced by Nigerians under the current government would motivate voters to use their votes wisely.

“It’s not about political parties anymore; it’s about Nigerians wanting to rescue their country,” Wabara stated.

He also expressed sadness over the mass defections in Delta State, noting that if the late Ijaw leader, Pa Edwin Clark, were still alive, such moves might not have happened.

“Pa Clark’s influence would have prevented this political rascality,” Wabara said, lamenting the late elder statesman’s absence.

Wabara again stressed that the APC will implode before the 2027 elections, as the internal conflicts sparked by the influx of new members would be too much for the party to handle.

In the end, Wabara remains hopeful that Nigerians will reclaim their democracy and steer the country towards better leadership, refusing to let a one-party system take root.
