In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Obochi Solomon, Ejeh emphasized that agriculture is the main source of livelihood for the people of Agatu and that farmers must be allowed to work freely without fear.

“Our farmers must cultivate without disruption. We will do everything necessary to create a safe environment for them,” the statement quoted him as saying.

During the meeting, the Ado of the Fulani asked for a one-week grace period to allow the herdsmen time to relocate. The council granted this request to ensure a peaceful transition.

The General Youth Chairman of Agatu, Mr. Oloche Silas, also pledged that the youths would support the peaceful evacuation and avoid any violence.

Security officials from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) praised the peaceful approach taken by all parties and promised to assist in maintaining calm during the relocation.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional leaders, Chief John Agidani, representing the Och’Agatu, applauded the council chairman’s leadership and called on everyone to respect the agreement to avoid any crisis involving Fulani herdsmen in Agatu community.
