The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Chris Hassan, has firmly denied rumors suggesting that key party members are planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at a press conference held in Jos, Hassan assured supporters that the PDP remains strong and united in Plateau State, dismissing the speculation as mere political distraction.
“There is no truth to these claims,” he said. “The PDP in Plateau has deep roots and widespread support. We remain committed to our values and to serving the people of this state.”
The chairman emphasized that the party is focused on supporting the administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who has been working to tackle the growing insecurity in the state. He praised the governor’s efforts, noting that his leadership is making significant progress despite the ongoing challenges.
Hassan also condemned the recent violent attacks on villages across Plateau, commending the state government and security agencies for their swift response in addressing the threats.

“The party stands firmly with the people of Plateau during these difficult times. We appreciate the proactive measures taken by the government and security forces to protect lives and restore peace,” he stated.
As talk of defections circulates in other states, Hassan insisted that the PDP remains strong and unshaken in Plateau State, urging members and supporters to disregard the rumors and continue working together to strengthen the party’s position ahead of future elections.
He concluded by affirming that the PDP is not just a political party in Plateau, but a “movement built on trust, loyalty, and genuine service to the people.”
With 2027 elections on the horizon, political analysts continue to watch closely, but for now, the Plateau PDP remains strong and united, according to its leadership.
