A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has strongly refuted claims made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, of causing unrest in the state.
Wike had alleged that Amaechi, while serving as Minister of Transportation under the Buhari administration, worked with the federal government to destabilize Rivers State. According to Wike, his tenure as governor was marked by constant turmoil, including being assigned 12 Commissioners of Police within three months and the late-night withdrawal of his security detail, moves he suggested were part of a larger plot.
However, in a statement made available to the press, Chief Eze described the allegations as false and politically motivated. He called Wike a “serial betrayer” and an “unrepentant liar,” accusing him of rewriting history to suit personal interests amid the ongoing Rivers State political crisis.

Eze defended Amaechi as a peaceful politician who has never encouraged violence or instability. “Unlike Wike, who ruled Rivers State with force and fear, Amaechi has always maintained a non-violent approach to politics,” he said.
He further recalled events during the 2015 elections, claiming that Wike’s administration was responsible for acts of violence that left families devastated. “People were slaughtered, homes were broken, and lives were lost—all in the name of political ambition,” Eze alleged.
Eze also brought up the controversial impeachment attempt against Amaechi using only five members of the State House of Assembly, which he said violated the Nigerian Constitution.
According to him, even as Minister, Amaechi tried to ensure Wike had access to federal funds for state development, but Wike allegedly misused the resources to further his political ambitions, including an unsuccessful run for the presidency.
Eze called on Nigerians to critically examine the facts and not be misled by politically charged statements, as the Rivers State political crisis continues to stir debate among stakeholders.
