The acting chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Robinson Ewor, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of causing the crisis in Rivers PDP to serve his own political ambitions.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Monday, Mr. Ewor claimed that Wike turned against the party after losing the PDP presidential ticket to Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 general elections. According to him, Wike’s disappointment didn’t stop there, he also wanted to be picked as Atiku’s running mate, but that didn’t happen either.
“After losing the ticket, Wike became the root of the crisis in Rivers PDP,” Ewor said. “He wanted to be president, then vice president. When both didn’t happen, he took it personally and started working against the party.”

Ewor said Wike formed the “G5 Governors” during the elections to weaken the PDP and reduce Atiku’s chances of winning. He also accused the former governor of continuously trying to control the political structures in Rivers State, even though he’s no longer a PDP member.
“How can you claim to advise a party that you’ve left? How do you advise people you’re actively working to destroy?” Ewor asked.
He insisted that the current challenges in the PDP are being driven not by internal disagreements, but by Wike’s attempts to take over the party from the outside. “The crisis we’re battling isn’t because PDP is falling apart on its own—it’s because the FCT minister is bent on pulling it down,” he added.
Ewor further alleged that Wike’s aim is to gain total control of Rivers State’s political system—including the government, the state House of Assembly, and the PDP, so he can help the APC win the 2027 elections.
“This is the heart of the crisis in Rivers PDP,” Ewor concluded. “Governor Fubara hasn’t done anything wrong. He’s just standing in the way of Wike’s plan to take over everything and rig 2027 in favor of the APC.”
