Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State is appealing to the Federal Government for immediate action after deadly attacks by suspected herdsmen killed at least 56 people in Ukum and Logo local government areas.
Speaking during his visit to the affected villages, Governor Alia confirmed that 28 people were killed in Ukum, and another 27 lost their lives in Logo.
The Governor condemned the attacks, calling them brutal assaults on innocent citizens. He emphasized the need for stronger security measures and expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s renewed security plans would help bring lasting peace to Benue.
“We cannot allow this violence to continue. I call on the Federal Government and security forces to act fast,” Alia said. “Our people deserve to live in peace and dignity.”

During the visit, Governor Alia met with local leaders and residents, assuring them that his administration is committed to finding lasting solutions. He urged the communities to stay calm and not take the law into their own hands, even in the face of such tragedy.
In response to the violent herdsmen attack in Benue State , security forces have now increased their presence in the Sankera area which includes Katsina Ala, Ukum, and Logo LGAs — to help restore order and reassure residents.
