Police in Kogi State have launched an investigation into an alleged attack on the family house of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. The incident, which has raised concerns about safety in the area, occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement released by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya Ovye, the police received a distress call from Yakubu Ovanja, a close aide to the senator, alerting them about the attack. The report claimed that several armed men stormed Senator Natasha’s family house, damaging parts of the building and attempting to break in.

The police said: “At about 1:00 am, some hoodlums around three of them armed with cutlasses, invaded the family house of the said Senator and damaged some front window glasses.”
Upon receiving the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Okehi division quickly mobilized officers to the scene. There, they met Michael Akpoti, a relative of the senator, who gave a detailed account of the frightening incident. He said the attackers used cutlasses to break the windows in an attempt to gain access into the building. He raised an alarm, which reportedly forced the assailants to flee before they could cause further harm.
This incident marks a serious security concern for the community and has brought renewed attention to the safety of public figures and their families. Senator Natasha’s family house attack has since sparked public outcry, with many demanding justice and better security in the region.
In response, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to begin an immediate and thorough investigation. Authorities have promised to identify those responsible for the attack and bring them to justice.
