Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has assured citizens that his administration is fully committed to stopping the recent wave of killings in Plateau State and protecting lives and property.
Speaking in a statewide broadcast on Wednesday morning, Governor Mutfwang said, “We are alive to our constitutional responsibility. Plateau will not fall. We are rising to the occasion, more determined than ever.”
The governor condemned the brutal killings in Zike village, Bassa, and the bloodshed in Bokkos. He described the violence not as clashes, but as a deliberate attempt to destabilize the state and displace innocent communities.
“This is a calculated, systematic campaign to dismantle our communities and erase our identity,” he said. “Enough is enough!”
To tackle the killings in Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang called an emergency Security Council meeting. This resulted in deploying more security forces to vulnerable areas, while the state’s Operation Rainbow security team will be strengthened with 600 new recruits trained to provide intelligence and rapid response.
He also revealed ongoing discussions with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and top security officials, thanking the president for his swift actions ordering the hunt for those behind the violence.

New security measures have been put in place, including banning night grazing, restricting cattle transport after 7 PM, and limiting motorcycle movement between 7 PM and 6 AM. The governor urged traditional leaders and youth groups to reactivate vigilante groups in cooperation with security agencies.
In addition to security responses, humanitarian aid is being distributed to displaced persons through partnerships with disaster agencies NEMA and SEMA. Peace efforts will include activating the Inter-Religious Council, appointing a Special Envoy on Peace, and setting up a Fact-Finding Committee.
Expressing sorrow for victims in Bokkos, Bassa, and other affected areas, Governor Mutfwang said, “Your pain is our sorrow. We will not allow this to become the new normal.”
He warned perpetrators and those supporting them: “Your time is up. You may run, but you will not hide. Plateau will rise and stand tall again.”
Governor Mutfwang also thanked development partners and Nigerians worldwide for their continued support during this difficult time. The fight to end the killings in Plateau State remains the top priority of his administration.
