The Lagos High Court in Ikeja has ruled that the removal of Mudashiru Obasa, the speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, was illegal and unconstitutional. The court’s decision also invalidated the proceedings and resolutions made by the Assembly on January 13, 2025, when Obasa was ousted.
In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, the court confirmed that Obasa remains the rightful speaker of Lagos State. This ruling came after Obasa challenged the legality of his removal by filing a lawsuit against the House of Assembly and the then newly appointed speaker, Mojisola Meranda.
