The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is excited to announce the rollout of its Contactless Biometric Passport Application System to support Nigerians living abroad. Under the leadership of Comptroller General Kemi Nanna Nandap, the NIS will implement this next phase across several countries starting April 11, 2025.

In a press release, ACI AS Akinlabi from the Service Public Relations Office stated that the new system allows Nigerians to renew their passports without having to visit a Passport Centre for biometric enrollment. The application is already available on the Google Play Store through the NIS Mobile app, with a version for Apple users set to launch soon. An upgraded version of the app for both Android and iOS users will also be introduced to enhance the user experience.
Currently, the Contactless Biometric Passport Application is accessible in countries such as Canada, the USA, Mexico, Jamaica, Brazil, Europe, and Asia. However, it is not yet available in Australia and Nigeria, but the NIS will announce the dates for these locations in the future.
