The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed a tragic accident that occurred earlier today in Iyana Ejigbo, where a commercial bus fatally struck a pedestrian and injured two others. Preliminary reports indicate that the bus, identified by the license plate AAA 927 YJ, was speeding and suffered a catastrophic brake failure, causing the driver to lose control.
In a distressing development, the driver and conductor absconded from the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the victims behind. A statement from Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at LASTMA, revealed that the vehicle veered off course and crashed into unsuspecting bystanders, resulting in one pedestrian’s death and serious injuries to two others.
