The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has responded to recent concerns raised about the fairness of federal appointments. In a statement released today, the government reaffirmed its commitment to national unity and fair representation in appointments amid claims of bias.
The controversy began following comments made by All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker Ali Ndume during a recent interview with Arise Television. Ndume accused the President of not adhering to the federal character principle in his appointments, a claim that the presidency has firmly denied.

In a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations for Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume,FG described such allegations as unfounded and misleading.
“The Federal Government is committed to national unity and fair representation in appointments,” ensuring that all appointments are made according to the federal character principle as outlined in Section 14 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Imohiosen also highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strong belief in the importance of Nigeria’s unity and his commitment to fairness and justice in all appointments. “This administration is dedicated to ensuring that all regions and demographics of the country are adequately represented in its institutions and agencies,” he said.
The OSGF urged the public to disregard baseless speculations and to rely on official government channels for accurate information.
