The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a N5 million fine on Shooting Stars and banned their supporters from attending home games due to violent incidents that occurred during their Matchday 32 clash against Ikorodu City at Lekan Salami Stadium.
The league found the Ibadan-based team guilty of three serious violations: failing to provide adequate security, mishandling their supporters, which resulted in attacks on the opposing team, and allowing fans to throw objects onto the pitch. These actions followed a chaotic aftermath where fans allegedly held Ikorodu City players hostage and vandalized their team bus after the game.

In light of these events, the NPFL cited Rule C9 of its regulations, granting Shooting Stars 48 hours to accept the sanctions or file an appeal. The ban on fans will remain in effect indefinitely as part of the consequences for the Shooting Stars match violence.
The disciplinary actions underscore the league’s commitment to improving safety and security at football matches.
