Labour Party’s NEC Appoints Senator Nenadi Usman as Acting Chairperson

One key resolution from the NEC meeting was the appointment of Distinguished Senator Nenadi Usman as the Acting National Chairperson of the Labour Party. We unanimously passed a vote of confidence in her leadership, believing she is well-positioned to guide the party during this transitional period.

The Labour Party’s National Executive Council (NEC) convened today in Abuja, where Senator Nenadi Usman was appointed as the Acting Chairperson. The meeting, attended by prominent members including Peter Obi, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the party, Governor Alex Otti, Deputy Governor of Abia State Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed and several key stakeholders , aimed to strengthen the party’s internal structures and promote unity among its members.

During the meeting, party leaders emphasized the importance of refocusing their efforts on building a “New Nigeria.” They reaffirmed their commitment to the vision and principles that have attracted millions of Nigerians to the party, highlighting values such as transparency, integrity, and service to the people.

The appointment of Senator Nenadi Usman was a key resolution from the Labour Party NEC meeting. Members unanimously passed a vote of confidence in her leadership, expressing their belief that she is well-equipped to guide the party during this transitional period.

Following the NEC meeting, the Labour Party delegation proceeded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to present the Supreme Court judgment, which confirmed the party’s leadership transition and validated the proceedings of the NEC. This step was essential to formally communicate Senator Usman’s appointment as Acting Chairperson.

In a statement at the conclusion of the meeting, party leaders stressed the need for unity and focus on the Nigerian people, particularly the youth and struggling families. They encouraged all Nigerians to remain hopeful and engaged in the political process, asserting that this is a crucial time for building a stronger nation based on courage, truth, and love for the country.
