Wike Has Lost PDP Membership, Says CP-PDP

The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has announced that former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lost his membership in the party. This comes as a result of his alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a recent statement, the CP-PDP called for party members to sever all ties with Wike and demanded his immediate expulsion from the PDP, arguing that his continued presence in the party is detrimental to both the PDP and Nigerian democracy.

Obinna Nwachukwu, the Pro tem National Coordinator of the CP-PDP, stated that their position is based on Wike’s public declaration of support for the APC in efforts to secure victories in the 2026 FCT council election and the 2027 presidential election. Nwachukwu emphasized that this alignment is a violation of the PDP’s Code of Conduct, specifically Section 10 (6) of the party’s constitution, which prohibits members from collaborating with other parties to undermine the PDP.

According to the CP-PDP, Wike’s decision to work with the APC reflects a clear intent to leave the party. They pointed out that this is a serious breach of loyalty, which is essential for any political party’s survival. “By publicly endorsing the APC, Wike has effectively declared that he is no longer a member of the PDP,” the statement said. His loyalty to the APC effectively ends his association with the party.

The CP-PDP also highlighted Wike’s ongoing attacks on the PDP and its officials, stating that his actions further justify the demand for his expulsion. They urged the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP to take immediate action to expel Wike, stressing that allowing him to remain in the party is harmful to its integrity.

As the CP-PDP awaits action from the NWC, they have instructed all professionals within the party to cut all partisan relationships with Wike, reinforcing the need to uphold the principles of the PDP Code of Conduct. They concluded their statement by reiterating their commitment to the unity and growth of the party, stating, “Wike has lost PDP membership, and it’s time for us to protect our party’s integrity.”
