killings in Plateau State is a Coordinated Crime Sponsored by Conflict Merchants, not Farmer-Herder Clashes -Mutfwang

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State is speaking out about the increasing violence in the region, describing it as a coordinated crime rather than simple farmer-herder clashes.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State is speaking out about the increasing violence in the region, describing it as a coordinated crime rather than simple farmer-herder clashes. He made these comments during the Tincity Fashion Week event, “The Plateau Experience,” held in Abuja on Friday night.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, there were recent attacks on the communities of Manguno, Daffo, and Josho in the Bokkos Local Government Area, where gunmen killed many residents and caused extensive property damage.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized that insecurity in Plateau State stems from organized crime fueled by groups seeking to disrupt peace. He assured the public that the state government and security forces are taking steps to prevent further violence.

“We nearly cancelled this event due to the current security situation in the state,” he stated. “However, we chose to move forward and celebrate the good things about Plateau. Our enemies want to plunge us into despair, but we will not give in.”

He urged communities to understand that the violence is not just a farmer-herder issue but is driven by malicious elements intent on causing chaos. “I assure everyone in Plateau that we will prevail against these criminals,” he added.

The governor also praised the event for highlighting the state’s tourism and business potential, encouraging continued support for initiatives that showcase Plateau’s beauty.

Mr. Chuwang Pwajok, the General Manager of the Plateau Tourism Board, echoed the governor’s sentiments, stating that Plateau is rich in resources just waiting to be discovered. Organizers, including Miss Christabel Bentu, recognized the governor’s dedication to promoting tourism and sustainable development in the region.

As discussions around insecurity in Plateau State continue, local leaders are calling for unity and resilience among residents, assuring them that brighter days are ahead despite the challenges currently faced.
