The National Judicial Council (NJC) has addressed the recent rumors regarding the sack of the Benue State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Maurice Ikpambese. Reports have emerged that the Benue State House of Assembly has passed a resolution recommending his removal from office.
In response to these claims, the NJC emphasized that the Nigerian Constitution, specifically the provisions created in 1999, outlines strict guidelines for the discipline and appointment of judicial officers. The Council noted that these procedures were not followed in this case concerning the sack of the Benue State Chief Judge.

As far as Council is therefore concerned, until the complaint is investigated and deliberated upon by it, Hon. Justice Maurice Ikpambese remains the Chief Judge of Benue State.
