PDP Knocks Osun APC Over N159 Billion Infra Plan Criticism

The recent criticism from the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding Governor Adeleke’s N159 billion infrastructure plan has been labeled as a sign of the opposition’s shame over its own failures while in office. Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, voiced these concerns, asserting that the APC is hypocritical for overlooking the positive developments made by the current administration.

In response to the APC’s claims that the infrastructure plan is unworkable, Rasheed emphasized that the first phase of the Governor’s infrastructure agenda is currently 70 to 80% complete. He confidently stated that the second phase of the Osun N159 billion Infra plan is an achievable goal, reflecting the aspirations of various communities across the state.

“It is only those who oppose progress that would deny the significant infrastructure development happening throughout the state,” Rasheed noted. He highlighted that construction has been consistently ongoing at major projects like the Oke Fia and Lameco flyovers. “In fact, work is accelerating,” he reiterated.

Rasheed detailed the progress on various projects, including:

  • The flyover at Ile Ife, which is advancing rapidly with visible evidence of construction.
  • The Ilesa dualization, where contractors are diligently working to meet deadlines.
  • The Oke Gada bridge, now nearing 90% completion, and the full completion of the dualization of the Old Garage-Oke Fia-Lameco road.
  • Additional significant achievements include the completion and commissioning of the Ilesa Garage to Stadium roundabout, the full execution of the Akoda-Oke Gada dualization, as well as upgrades to 200 health centers, rehabilitation of over 100 schools, and the completion of nearly 150 kilometers of local and urban roads.

This progress, according to Rasheed, demonstrates that Osun APC’s allegations are without merit and that the first phase of the plan announced in 2023 is being implemented faithfully.

Rasheed also addressed the delay in the Abere flyover project, explaining that the community had opted for a different road project. Similarly, he mentioned that for the Ikirun Junction flyover, the community chose to extend the road dualization towards the Kwara state border.

“Governor Adeleke is a pro-people leader who has kept his promises, a fact recognized by both local and national observers,” Rasheed stated, contrasting the current administration’s achievements with the APC’s record during its four years in power. “In just two years, Governor Adeleke has accomplished what the APC failed to achieve in four years, significantly reducing the Osun infrastructure deficit by over 45% since he took office in 2022.”

To continue addressing the infrastructure needs in Osun State and attract investment, Governor Adeleke has unveiled the second phase of his infrastructure plan, which totals N159 billion. The proposed projects will cover a wide range of areas, including infrastructure, education, and health services.

Rasheed concluded by affirming the Governor’s commitment to completing all new projects, highlighting that he has a proven track record as a “talk-and-do” leader.
