Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack: How Mastermind Kachalla Ishulu Yellow Was Killed

Kachalla Ishulu Yellow, a notorious bandit leader who orchestrated the Abuja-Kaduna train attack two years ago, has been killed. His death comes after he coordinated a violent incident in which terror groups bombed a train carrying hundreds of passengers from Abuja to Kaduna on March 28, 2022. That tragic event resulted in many deaths and numerous kidnappings.

According to reports from counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Kachalla Ishulu who orchestrated the Abuja-Kaduna train attack was shot dead during a clash with rival gangs in Dan Jibga Market, located in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. He was attacked by gunmen loyal to another bandit leader, Dogo Gide, who was seeking revenge for Yellow’s earlier actions against his group.

Before his death, Kachalla Ishulu who orchestrated the Abuja-Kaduna train attack had encountered troops from Operation FANSAN and local vigilante groups in Zamfara. This confrontation resulted in the deaths of nine bandits, while three members of the vigilante group were also killed. During the chaos, Yellow sustained injuries and later took refuge in a shop owned by a local merchant known for selling fabrics.

The killing of Kachalla Ishulu Yellow follows a recent violent clash with another top bandit leader, Kachalla Bakin Sifindi, whom Yellow had killed two days earlier. This act escalated tensions among rival bandit factions, prompting Dogo Gide to pursue revenge against Yellow. The circumstances led to Yellow’s assassination when he let his guard down in the market.

Kachalla Ishulu Yellow was known as one of the most feared bandit commanders in North-West Nigeria, leading deadly attacks across several states, including Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Niger. His operations were based in the Munhaye forest, where he conducted numerous ambushes, kidnappings, and killings.

His criminal activities included high-profile kidnappings, such as the 2021 abduction of the Emir of Bungudu and the kidnapping of children from a local family for ransom in 2022. Kachalla Ishulu who orchestrated the Abuja-Kaduna train attack’s history of violence included frequent attacks on highways, communities, and direct confrontations with security forces. His death marks a significant moment in the ongoing battle against banditry in the region.
