As part of its preparations for the upcoming 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially inaugurated the Election Project Plan Committee (EPPC). The committee is tasked with creating a strategic framework to ensure a smooth electoral process.
The inaugural meeting of the Election Project Plan Committee took place this past week in Abuja, chaired by Prof. Rhoda H. Gumus. The committee’s mandate includes developing a comprehensive roadmap by reviewing the Terms of Reference, establishing sub-committees, creating an Elections Project Plan (EPP) Template, and setting deadlines for planning document submissions.

Among the National Commissioners present at the inauguration were:
- Kenneth Ukeagu – Chair, Tenders Board (Member)
- Dr. Baba Bila – Chair, EOLC (Member)
- Sam Olumekun – Chair, EPMC (Member)
- Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru – Chair, BEI

During the event, Prof. Gumus underscored the significance of early planning in enhancing Nigeria’s electoral process. She urged the members of the Committee to fulfill their responsibilities diligently to maintain electoral integrity and transparency.
