Your Letter to Rivers Assembly is “Useless” – Wike to Fubara

Wike criticized Fubara for opting to send a public letter rather than personally reaching out to the members of the House. He argued that a more effective and respectful way to communicate would have been for Fubara to directly call Speaker Amaewhule and his team to discuss a suitable time for a meeting

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has publicly criticized Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s recent letter to the Rivers State House of Assembly. Wike described the letter, which sought to discuss the implementation of a Supreme Court ruling on political matters in the state, as “useless.” His comments came during a discussion with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.

In his remarks, Wike insisted that Speaker Martins Amaewhule and the other members of the Assembly are not simply followers of Fubara and deserve to be treated with respect. Wike emphasized that Fubara should have approached the lawmakers directly, suggesting that he could have easily called Amaewhule to discuss important matters and set a specific date and time for a face-to-face meeting.

Wike criticized Fubara for opting to send a public letter rather than personally reaching out to the members of the House. He argued that a more effective and respectful way to communicate would have been for Fubara to directly call Speaker Amaewhule and his team to discuss a suitable time for a meeting. Wike’s comments reflect his broader concerns about the current administration’s handling of political affairs in Rivers State and the need for collaboration and respect among elected officials.

As the political landscape in Rivers State evolves, Wike’s remarks underscore ongoing tensions within the state’s leadership and highlight the complexities of governance in the wake of significant judicial decisions. Stakeholders in the state are now closely watching how this situation unfolds and what it may mean for future interactions between the governor and the Assembly.
