Story: Don’t be Quick To Judge

Be Curious, Not Critical

A young couple, full of dreams, got their very first house. The next morning, as they enjoyed their breakfast, the wife glanced out the window. She saw their neighbor hanging laundry.

“Oh dear,” she said, “that laundry looks so dingy. She doesn’t seem to know how to wash clothes properly. Maybe she needs stronger soap.”

Her husband, a quiet and thoughtful man, just listened.

Day after day, every time the neighbor hung her clothes out to dry, the wife would make the same comments. “Look at those stains! How can she not see them?”

Then, one bright morning, the wife looked out and gasped. “Wow! Her laundry is sparkling clean! She finally figured it out. I wonder who showed her how to wash like that?”

Her husband smiled gently. “I did,” he said. “I woke up early and cleaned our windows.”

The wife was surprised. She realized that the “dirt” she saw wasn’t on the neighbor’s clothes, but on her own window.

Be Curious, Not Critical

This story teaches us something important: what we see in others depends on how clear our own view is. If our hearts are filled with negativity, anger, or jealousy, we’ll see those things everywhere. But if we choose to clean our “windows,” to look with kindness and understanding, we’ll see the good in people and the world around us.

Remember, when we judge others, we’re not really showing who they are. We’re showing who we are. Let’s choose to clean our windows and see the world with a clear, loving heart. Don’t be Quick To Judge….
