President Bola Tinubu has officially announced automatic job offers for 774 fellows in the national health program. This announcement was made during the program’s launch in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
While addressing the young health fellows, who will be monitoring Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across all 774 local government areas, Tinubu said, “You are hired,” promising them employment after their one-year commitment.

The President explained that the program is designed to help the fellows learn best practices in healthcare and gain skills to make positive changes in the sector. He emphasized that a healthy population is essential for the country’s development, stating, “No country can prosper if its people are unhealthy.”
This announcement follows a call from the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, who urged all levels of government to incorporate these fellows into the healthcare system to promote universal health coverage.
The health fellows were chosen from over 359,000 applicants based on merit. This initiative is part of Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda aimed at improving Nigeria’s primary healthcare system.
