
In a significant development for international travel procedures, the Federal Government has announced an upgrade to its visa on arrival policy. This enhancement focuses on implementing comprehensive security measures while maintaining efficient processing times for travelers. The announcement came during a key meeting between the Minister of Interior and the leadership of the Minister of Interior and the leadership of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC)
Minister of Interior, Olubumu Tunji Ojo clarified that the visa on arrival policy remains in place but is undergoing significant upgrades to enhance security measures.

The Minister explained that the upgraded system will incorporate real-time clearance requirements from Interpol, criminal record systems, and various background check agencies.
According to the Minister, these changes complement PBAC’s initiatives to streamline procedures and reduce travel-related obstacles for Nigerian travelers. The Minister confirmed that travelers can still apply online for short-stay visits, with approvals typically granted within 24 to 48 hours.
