Security Update: Police Operatives Raid Taraba Criminal Hideout, Seize Arms: Rescue Kidnapped Victims in Oyo

In a continued effort to combat organized crime, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has achieved significant milestones, including the recovery of illegal firearms, the arrest of suspects, and the successful rescue of kidnapping victims. These operations demonstrate the NPF’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the nation.

In a press release issued by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force, on February 26, 2025, it was reported that police operatives in Taraba State successfully conducted a raid on a criminal hideout situated in the Wamunchi dry season rice farms, following reliable intelligence. The operation yielded significant results, including the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, and the apprehension of 20 male suspects. Law enforcement also confiscated a motorcycle, three Dane guns, and a bow and arrow. The case has been forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry, and the suspects are currently undergoing profiling.

In Oyo State, a coordinated response by the tactical teams of the Oyo State Police Command, alongside local security outfits, led to the safe rescue of three individuals kidnapped from Agede Village, Moniya, Ibadan. The victims—Olori Hakimat Sadia (50), Olori Rakyat (45), and Monsuru Ganiyu (20)—were abducted on February 24, 2025, by ten armed assailants. One of the kidnappers has been apprehended.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) commended the bravery and swift actions of the officers involved in these operations, highlighting their dedication to the safety of citizens. In light of recent events, the IGP has ordered the immediate deployment of the FID – Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to prioritize the safe return of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was kidnapped on February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja.

The NPF is fully committed to ensuring the safe return of Prince Ojajuni and is mobilizing all necessary resources and expertise to achieve this goal. The police also urge the public to exercise caution and refrain from engaging in social media speculation or sharing unverified information regarding ongoing rescue operations, as such actions may jeopardize the safety of victims and the effectiveness of the operations.

The Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to dismantling criminal elements within our communities and restoring peace and safety across the nation.

We salute the brave men and women of the Nigerian Police Force for their remarkable dedication and unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our communities.
