IPMAN threatens Service Withdrawal if Payments Are Not Received

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has announced a seven-day ultimatum for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to settle outstanding bridging claims totalling N100 billion.

During a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Yahaya Alhasan, Chairman of the IPMAN Depot Chairmen Forum, stated that failure to provide the necessary payments before the deadline would force the association to withdraw their services nationwide.

This ultimatum follows the NMDPRA’s failure to resolve the debt despite assurances given 40 days ago in front of National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. If the claims remain unsettled, there is a significant risk of a nationwide shortage of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol.

Alhasan expressed deep frustration over the ongoing delays, emphasizing that the bridging claims have been pending since 2024 and were previously deducted from marketers’ payments for products to cover bridging allowances.

He stated, “If NMDPRA doesn’t pay our money within seven days, we are going to withdraw our services across the nation,” highlighting the urgency of the situation and its potential impact on the fuel supply chain.
