Hashim Abioye, chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), has raised concerns about the sealing of the commission’s headquarters in Osogbo. Speaking on Rave FM’s live current affairs program on Saturday, he expressed surprise at this action.
Despite police measures, Abioye reported that local government elections were underway at polling units across Osun state. He stated, “I leave the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, in the hands of God,” and noted the lack of police presence at polling units.

Reports indicate that the Nigeria Police had warned the state government against proceeding with the elections due to security concerns and potential legal issues.
Many polling units along the Gbongan-Ibadan road in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, were found empty, with no electoral officers present, although voters were gathering nearby. While police operatives were observed on highways, vehicles were still seen on the roads in Osogbo, despite a state-imposed vehicular restriction from 5 am to 5 pm on Saturday.
