Yakubu Dogara, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has called on President Bola Tinubu to focus on two essential projects in Bauchi State: revitalizing oil exploration and building the Bagel Dam in the Dass Local Government Area. Dogara emphasizes that these initiatives are crucial for enhancing Tinubu’s chances of reelection in Bauchi in 2027.
Speaking at the commissioning of a road project in Toro Local Government Area, Dogara stated that these projects would drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve infrastructure, positioning Bauchi as a significant economic hub. He described them as political game-changers that would secure substantial voter support for Tinubu in the upcoming presidential election.
“If President Tinubu initiates the Bagel Dam project and revives oil exploration in Bauchi, does he even need to campaign here for 2027? If you agree, say ‘Yes,’” he asked the crowd, which responded affirmatively.

Dogara underscored the advantages of the Bagel multipurpose dam, which is set to supply electricity to all local governments in Bauchi South. This initiative aims to foster industrialization and stimulate the local economy. Furthermore, he pointed out that aligning Bauchi with Nigeria’s oil-producing states would lead to a substantial increase in federal revenue allocation to the region.
In response to rumors about declining support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi, Dogara dismissed these claims, asserting that the party remains strong despite being in opposition at the state level. “APC is very much alive in Bauchi. Those who think otherwise are only deceiving themselves. When the time comes, we will take back the state,” he declared.
