
In accordance with the directive issued by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, the Nigeria Police Force will implement the enforcement of Mandatory Third Party Insurance beginning on February 1st, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance road safety and ensure compliance among vehicle owners, thereby providing protection for both themselves and others on the road.
As stated by the Public Relations Officer of the Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, vehicle owners and operators are hereby cautioned against non-compliance. The absence of valid Third Party Insurance will result in stringent penalties, including fines, in accordance with prevailing laws.
Effective February 1st, all vehicle owners across the nation are required to possess valid Third Party Insurance. Those without insurance are strongly advised to obtain it promptly to avoid potential complications. The Inspector-General has directed State Commissioners of Police to enforce compliance rigorously, granting officers the authority to conduct inspections and impose penalties for any infractions.
