The Lagos State House of Assembly has responded to recent statements made by former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who maintains that he still holds the position of speaker.
In a statement issued by Ogundipe Olukayode on behalf of the Assembly, it is important to emphasize that more than two-thirds of the state assembly members stand united in their support for the new Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.
The lawmakers stated that nothing could alter the decision made on January 13th, when Obasa was impeached from his position as speaker.
Olukayode emphasized that, as elected representatives of the people of Lagos, the members of the assembly have a responsibility to ensure good governance and foster harmonious relationships with other branches of government.

He stated, “The location of the house remains unchanged, and there have been no alterations. The stance being advocated by former Speaker Rt Hon Obasa is unwarranted and lacks parliamentary decorum.”
He further clarified that the majority of members initially elected Obasa as the speaker for the 10th Assembly, but later reached a collective decision to remove him from this position.
He urged the former speaker to align with the path of peace and harmony embraced by others.
