RIVERS: Gov Fubara, Wike, stakeholders meet President Tinubu over Rivers issues

President Bola Tinubu recently convened a meeting with Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, and representatives from Ogoni land, encompassing leaders from four local government areas in Rivers State.

The discussions were held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Accompanying the governor and the FCT Minister were notable senators and dignitaries, including Senators Lee Maeba, Magnus Abe, and Olaka Nwogu, as well as Chief Victor Giadom, Chief Kenneth Kobani, Monsignor Pius Kii, Leedom Mitee, Senators Bennett Birabi, Barry Mpigi, and Professor B. Fakae, among others.

The gathering also saw the participation of key members from President Tinubu’s cabinet, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Information and National Orientation Idris Mohammed, Minister of Regional Development Abubakar Momoh, Minister of Environment Balarabe Abbas, and Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari.

While the specific agenda of the meeting remains confidential, insiders suggest that it may pertain to critical issues such as the ongoing Ogoni clean-up efforts and the potential resumption of oil exploration in Ogoniland.
